Many years ago, home from matriculating at the University, the fellows and I decided to attend a party. One of the individuals that showed up at the party was a guy named Tony. Tony was a year younger then us and we did not know him real well, but what I did know of Tony I liked. Tony was particularly keyed up most of the time, but in a good way. He could handle himself in a fight, but never one to start one. Overall he was very friendly, quick witted and generally fun to be around.
Tony walked by me at the party and seemed to be mumbling the same thing repeatedly, almost like a mediators mantra. I asked my buddy Pat what he was saying. Pat said "Guns and Gold, Guns and Gold." I asked why and he said that Tony say’s that "all Dad’s have Guns and Gold" and that’s what he’s looking for. I thought, holy crap! I never pegged Tony for a larcenist and made a quick mental note. While Tony was riffling thru drawers in the parent's bedroom, Pat and I decided if he was successful, we’d give people a head’s up then get the hell out of dodge.
I bring this story up because at the end of the Holiday Season it is a good time to remind that Homeowners' Policies have limited theft coverage for certain items. Some of the more popular items are:
- Firearms
- Jewelry (e.g. rings and watches) and
- Silverware
Coverage is usually limited to $1,000 or $2,000 for loss from theft. The good news is you can schedule the items on your policy for the actual value.
If you received a new gift or have overlooked some items from the past, contact us and we will be happy to assist! If we are not your agent of record – even better reason to contact us.
If you have Facebook friends with nice collections of jewelry or guns, hit the "Facebook Share" button bellow – they will be very thankful of your thoughtful gesture - as will I!
