A $2,600,000 Each Occurrence Limit
If you are a Clayton MO Restaurant Owner with an Outdoor Dining Permit, you have likely received a letter within the last week indicating you are now suddenly required to have an each occurrence limit of $2,600,000.
For most (assuming you currently have a limit of $1,000,000) this will require:
- A $2,000,000 Umbrella or Excess Liability Policy for your business (since Umbrella limits increase in $1,000,000 increments) or
- $1,000,000 increase if you already have a $1,000,000 Umbrella (or Excess Policy)
- Not to mention an increased Insurance Premium.
From what I've gathered, it seems the notification was fairly abrupt and has caused a fair amount of confusion for Business Owners, in some cases, due to the lack of information provided with the notice.
This may not apply to your Restaurant
After digging into this with our clients, we were able to determine that for some Owners, the requirement does not apply even though they have the Permit.
If uncovered, unnecessary compliance would've caused a significant annual increase in Premium.
