Summer Vacation season is quickly approaching which means unoccupied homes.
One of the best ways to secure your home is with a Home Security System. With a system you will receive a good credit on your Homeowners Insurance. This does come with a monthly cost, which many people do not feel is necessary. Other inexpensive steps can be taken:
- Hire a neighborhood kid to pick up your papers. Unless you are widely known as a very slow reader, a collection of papers on the driveway is good clue of an unoccupied home. I have determined, from morning walks with the Dog, that physical delivery of a newspaper is quickly being replaced in favor of electronic methods. However, don’t forget the 2-3 unsubscribed neighborhood papers thrown per week.
- Exterior motion detector lights.
- Interior light timers help maintain that lived-in look.
- Avoid announcing your vacations on Social Media like Facebook and let your kids know they can show all the cool stuff they did on their Instagram account when they get home.
Enjoy your vacation!
